Tubes

Taylor has been on six different antibiotics since June because of ear infections. She has had three double ear infections and three additional infections in her right ear. Her pediatrician, Dr. Landry, referred us to a specialist to have tubes put in her ears. Taylor's surgery was scheduled for Friday, September 24. Dr. Potocki reassured us that tubes is a really routine procedure and it would be no big deal. That's easy to say when it's not your child! We got to the surgery center at 6:20. I kept Taylor in her jammies so she could be as comfortable as possible. Here are a few pictures of her before surgery.
I was really dreading the moment when they took Taylor back to surgery and I couldn't go with her. She has a little bit of stranger anxiety and I just knew she was going to cry. Thankfully, we had an amazing nurse who took a little time to develop a connection with Taylor. Taylor willingly went with her and didn't cry at all. Winston, Mom, and I sat in the waiting area and in no time Dr. Potocki was there telling us that it went great. We followed him to the recovery area to see Taylor. We were warned several times that she would be very upest and confused as she came out of anesteia. She did cry some but I had a warm bottle waiting for her which comforted her and Daddy took her outside for a little walk which she loved. We were on our way home 30 minutes later! It really was pretty "routine!" We already see a change in Taylor! She seems so happy. She is sleeping MUCH better. And, she is not constantly pulling at her ears. She was so happy once we got home. Are we sure this baby just had surgery??
